Why and How to Celebrate Eclipse Fest!

Spinning Your Gold Blog: Words that Open Hearts & Inspire Actions

“The energies of this ‘focused on America’ solar eclipse
support personal, accelerated change as well as planetary change.”
–The Reverend Frances Fayden

Unless you’re participating in a reality TV show like Survivor or Alone, you can’t dodge the constant hailstorm of information about the New Moon Solar Eclipse on Monday, August 21. For authors like me, it’s challenging to find new adjectives to describe this super-awesome-OMG-cosmic event happening next week for the first time in 99 years and, one that won’t be seen for another 300 years!

Did you know that this free, four-hour Celestial Light to Darkness Show kicks off other energetic events such as the:

* Biggest meteor showers appearing in years lasting until August 24?
* Mercury Retrograde wrapping up on September 4?
* Full Harvest Moon showing off on September 6?

Why celebrate?Perhaps you’re not a lunatic Moon Girl like me. This wasn’t always the case. My observations and reflections of the moon’s cycles started five years ago; they evolved while developing the monthly editorial calendar of my Facebook page, Women as Visionaries with Lore Raymond. It seemed like a fun idea to include the full and new moon dates to inspire the weekly posts of the magazine's contributors.

Ready to rock it with NASA-approved glasses & t-shirt!
So, consider these reasons...
* Moon’s power is undeniable as entire oceans are impacted as seen through the ebb and flow of tides.

* Up to 60% of the human adult body is water. According to H.H. Mitchell in the Journal of Biological Chemistry, “The brain and heart are composed of 73% of water and the lungs are about 83% water.” It makes sense that you'd feel the same ebbs and flows in your body and emotions.

* There’s nothing subtle about this specific eclipse’s energy which might bring on mega changes and a new wave of energy!

* “Many believe that eclipses open a portal into a new energetic pathway, so it is important to take advantage of them when they do arrive. If Lunar Eclipses are all about endings, Solar Eclipses are all about new beginnings.” ~ExploreDeeply.com

Enjoy these 8 ways to celebrate your Eclipse Fest on 8-21:

1. Gather your supplies now
Order your NSA-approved glasses for checking out the solar eclipse. Many locations are sold out—and some are still selling inexpensive ones so be cautious. This is important especially if you have vision challenges like my 85-year old mom with macular generative eye disease. She won’t be looking at the heavens that day. You might want to buy a commemorative tee-shirt. I did!

2. Celebrate with a community
Like the stars in the Milky Way, pick from the gazillions of choices to celebrate your Eclipse Fest a.k.a. SolFests, SolarFests, or EclipseCons. Go online to check on virtual or MeetUp gatherings. Research local colleges and universities for their offerings Visit: Find a Women's Circle: the divine feminine app

3. Create a Ceremony
Since solar eclipses are about new beginnings, it’s important to first clean out your emotional and physical houses of clutter and garbage. Releasing ideas can be found on my blog, “5 Letting Go Rituals for the Woman in Transition.”

4. Clarify your dreams
In this emotional lightness, you are ready to write your hopes, dreams, and desires for the rest of 2017. Be specific. Dream out of space--and out of the box!
Download the free Abundance Check & fill it out!

5. Fill out an Eclipse Fest  Abundance Check
This is a magnetic time for attracting more abundance into your life! What emotional and physical resources do you seek to attract to support your hopes, dreams, and desires?
Download and fill in my free gift, the Eclipse Fest Abundance Check. You don't have to give your email.

6. Write a Letter for Eclipse Fest
Write a letter of encouragement to yourself about everything you've listed or thought about in Step 5. Reread it often. For fun, put a copy of the letter in a self-addressed envelope to you. Give the envelope to a friend and ask them to surprise you by mailing it sometime before December 31. Did you know that you can buy eclipse stamps?

7) Be inspired and informed.
Here are my favorite places for fun and helpful Eclipse Fest information:
Time to see, state by state
* See if your glasses are safe
* Caution from an optometrist
Old Farmer's Almanac, since 1818

"Shoot for the moon. Even if you miss, you’ll land among the stars.” ~Les Brown

8) Reflect. Finally, as you and I along with millions of others celebrate Eclipse Fest, let’s pause to look up to the heavens--hopefully wearing NASA approved solar eclipse glasses--and reflect on these words by Xan Oku:

You have been.
You will be, forever.

Stardust and planets,
Fossils and forests.

You have been so many things, my love.
Don’t you remember?

You are not a stranger here.

    1. Me, too! It is tricky to find GOOD glasses, Andrea. I went to Amazon and had to buy clip ons. And you're welcome. It was great fun to write this blog post.

  5. What a wonderful article, Lore! I spent so much time here, clicking on every link! Where we are in San Antonio, we will not experience totality. However, I am definitely planning my own releasing ceremony and dreaming about all the abundance on my way. I know that energetically, I will feel totality!

    Thanks for another amazing post!

  6. I have always thought of the moon as "Grandmother Moon" as I was taught by my Native American teachers. She watches over me and shines down her wisdom on me while I sleep. I see this event a The Grandmother opening her arms and inviting us to look within and renew our lives. I love the idea of the letter. Will certainly be doing that!

  7. As I get older, I actually FEEL the moon, I feel connected to it and the subtle rhythms of life. These are special energetic moon moments but it is up to us to make of them what we will. I am in Arizona so will not see the complete eclipse, but I will be out with my Goddess friends in rituals of love that ground us to the earth and ethereally elevate our spirits to the Heavens. We are a funny old mix of excited science geeks and spiritual warriors. Thanks for the ideas and links. Love it!
